Chunchi Waterfalls The waterfall is on tributary of Kaveri, lying amidst rocky hills with shrub vegetation. It is a small deviation from the road to Mekedatu, famous for the waterfall through a small gap between two rocks. The fall follows the confluence of two smaller streams, which run down to the fall in cascades. You can take a day's break and visit this bewitching place located in Kankapura taluk in Bangalore rural district. The waterfall is about 6km away from the deviation of the river. The waterfall is surrounded with deep green forests, adding to the natural beauty of the place.
Sangam Bangalore
Sangama is 103 km (64 mi) from Bangalore. Here the river Arakavati joins the Kaveri inside the Chilandavadi forest. The Kaveri has several whirlpools in the stretch between Mekedatu and Sangama and it is not advisable to swim in the river at either of these places.
Mekedatu Bangalore
Around a two hour drive from Bangalore, Sangam and Mekedatu are ideal for a day’s getaway. Sangam is the confluence of the river Cauvery and Arkavathi and is accessible via Kanakpura Road. The river flows through a deep gorge at the point called Mekedatu. The gorge is deep and at some points the rocks bridges the river, so a goat can leap across. Therefore, the name Meke (goat) Datu (leap).
